The Dental Hygiene Clinic located on the Cooper campus of the Bluegrass Community and Technical College opened in 1977. The Dental Hygiene Program has produced over 500 graduates who care for the oral health needs of the public. The faculty is extremely proud of the achievements of graduates, including high rates of licensure, ("Board") examination success and post graduation employment and continuing education.
The mission of the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Dental Hygiene Program is to provide an innovative center for learning that serves the Bluegrass community by developing competent dental hygiene care to the public and acting as a resource for the professional dental community.
The Dental Hygiene program is committed to utilizing a comprehensive, team approach to educate future dental hygienists, who as members of the health care profession, will not only become critical thinkers but will also demonstrate cultural sensitivity when providing quality, comprehensive, evidence-based care to a diverse population of patients utilizing the highest level of knowledge, skill, and judgment. As a member of the Dental Hygiene profession, they are expected to serve humanity competently whether as a clinical educator, consumer advocate, researcher, or change agent.
