The Bluegrass Community and Technical College Advanced Manufacturing Center located in Georgetown offers many advantages for students looking for a challenging and rewarding career.
First: Assist students in acquiring the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a manufacturing career or to improve their on-the-job skills.
Second: Assist industry by understanding their training and education needs for their current and future workforce and transfer that information in course curriculum to the students.
On-line classes allow the student to work at his/her own pace. The work is monitored by an instructor who is ready to assist and help the student gain a clear understanding of the material. Although the student works through the course at his/her schedule, a time frame for completing the course is given to help motivate the learning process and give the student a goal to complete of the course.
The student schedules his/her lab time in conjunction with the instructor. This option allows the student the flexibility of planning around any work schedule. Courses are currently being structured in a modular format which will give students the ability to enter and complete at times other than the traditional semester format. This format allows for more flexible schedules for students and for industry. Stay tuned for updates on this creative learning option.
Classes and lab work are held in a manufacturing style learning environment. From the beginning the student experiences working issues while learning. The opportunity to learn skills in the real environment trains the student in how work is done.

Students complete their degree with general education classes held both at AMC and at the Emergency Medical Services building. Students enrolled in other programs are also invited to take advantage of the convenience of attending the general education classes at Georgetown. High school students may be eligible for dual credit for certain courses. By obtaining dual credit, students have a head start on their college courses by the time they graduate from high school. For more information visit our Opportunity College website.
