Welcome to the North American Racing Academy at Bluegrass Community and Technical College!

On behalf of the BCTC Equine Program and the North American Racing Academy (NARA), thank you very much for taking the time to stop by and visit our website.

Since beginning operations in 2006 under the wonderful guidance of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and BCTC, NARA has enjoyed great success as the first and only accredited community college based racing school here in the U.S.

Jockey pathway graduates of NARA have now won over 2,000 races and nearly $35 million in purses earned by their mounts. And our Horseman pathway graduates now populate some of the top racing stables and breeding farms in North America.  Both jockey and horseman’s pathway grads enjoy an 80% placement in either internships and/or full time work.

Today, NARA has successfully transformed itself into an overall equine industry workforce academy and not simply a jockey school.  In addition to excellent exercise riders and professional jockeys, we now also produce licensed grooms, assistant trainers, trainers, breeding farm managers and other workers skilled in the care and training of the racehorse.

Many of our classes are now being offered online, making them more convenient and available to more students both here in the U.S. and overseas.  And, here in Kentucky, we now offer dual credit classes to local area high school juniors and seniors attending Fayette County Public School System’s Locust Trace Agriscience Farm.

I encourage you to explore our website and learn more about our unique program and what steps you need to take to start the application process.

Please do not hesitate to call or email us (dixie.hayes@kctcs.edu) should you have any questions and, again, thank you very much for your interest.

Sincerely,

Remi Bellocq
Executive Director
