FAMOUS 9/11 PRINT DONATED TO KENTUCKY FIRE COMMISSION
Nov 29, 2012 - | 10:39 PM -
The Kentucky Fire Commission recently received a Peter O’Neill print entitled “Two minutes of Silence.” The piece was donated to the Kentucky Fire Commission by the Gott Fire Department in Warren County, in conjunction with the Warren County Sherriff’s Department.
“It’s an honor to have this amazing piece of work hanging in our office,” said Kentucky Fire Commission Executive Director Ronnie Day. “It’s a heartfelt tribute to our fallen comrades.”
“Two Minutes of Silence” was painted by the talented Peter O’ Neill in September 2001 and sold for $20K, which he donated to the 9/11 relief fund. O’Neill is now donating prints of the original piece to hang in every fire, police and emergency service station across the country. Since August 2003, more than 11K prints have been donated.
“Our department is excited to be able to share this piece of work with the Kentucky Fire Commission for the dedication, training and support they provide to firefighters across the Commonwealth,” said Gott Fire Chief Craig Peay.
The original oil hangs in the New York City Fire Museum.
