BCTC Colonel Program

Start your education at Bluegrass Community & Technical College - and graduate from EKU - with the BCTC Colonel program!

• The BCTC Colonel program is a cooperative program between BCTC and Eastern Kentucky University that provides students with the opportunity to gain a strong academic foundation prior to attending Eastern Kentucky University.
• BCTC students in the BCTC Colonel program are guaranteed admission to EKU following successful completion of the program.
• When you're ready to transfer, BCTC Colonel students will have the opportunity to register onsite at BCTC for the fall or spring semesters at EKU. This opportunity will be conducted during the priority registration period at EKU.
• You can meet all the EKU General Education requirements while at BCTC--When you earn you Associate of Arts or Science degree, you will be General Education Certified, which means you won't have to take any more gen ed courses when you transfer to EKU!
• OH!--BCTC Colonel students can attend all EKU athletic events at no cost!

What is the BCTC Colonel program?

A cooperative program between BCTC and EKU that includes:

• Enhanced Transfer Advising -- you will receive enhanced transfer advising - which means you'll know exactly which courses to take to prepare you to transfer!
• Guaranteed Admission to EKU -- You are guaranteed admission to EKU following completion of an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree
• Onsite Priority Registration -- When you're ready to transfer, BCTC Colonel students will have the opportunity to register onsite at BCTC for the fall or spring semesters at EKU. This opportunity will be conducted during the priority registration period at EKU.
• Apply to EKU for free -- The $30 application fee will be waived for students who are registered in the BCTC Colonel program at least one semester prior to transfer and who successfully complete the program.
• Attend EKU for half price -- Students who earn 24 credit hours at BCTC with a cumulative 3.0 GPA are automatically awarded a KCTCS Transfer Scholarship. With this scholarship, your tuition will be half the normal EKU in-state tuition rate for up to six semesters. Contact the EKU Transfer Advisor at the BCTC Transfer Center for more information.

Who can be a BCTC Colonel student?

You can be a BCTC Colonel student if you meet these three criteria:

• Enrolled in an Associate of Arts or Science degree
• Planning to transfer to EKU
• Maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at BCTCWhat if I'm not yet enrolled at BCTC?

• Sign up now to join BCTC Colonel. There is no cost!
• If you have further questions about BCTC Colonel, email a BCTC Transfer Advisor BCTC_TransferCenter@kctcs.edu.Once I join BCTC Colonel, what do I do?
• Meet with your BCTC Academic Advisor each semester
• Meet regularly with a BCTC Transfer Advisor
• Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative gpa
• Earn your Associate of Arts or Science degree
• Transfer to EKU Sign up today to join BCTC Colonel and you can be on your way to a bachelor's degree. BCTC students succeed when they transfer!
• BCTC students who transferred in 2006/2007 earned an average 2.93 GPA after their initial year at a four-year institution.
