The president of Vincennes University and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana announced during a press conference on Wednesday, October 10 that they will partner in the Advanced Manufacturing Technician Program. Both presidents signed the Memorandum of Agreement during the press conference as a commitment to the partnership. BCTC AMT student, Sara Jenkins, and campus coordinator, Carol Crawford along with North American Production Support Center's managers Keith Davis, Phyllis Crume, and Dennis Dio Parker attended the event.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana President Norm Bafunno and Vincennes University officials unveiled the plans Wednesday at VU's Advanced Manufacturing campus near Ft. Branch. It is the first program of its kind in Indiana and only third such partnership in the nation. Bafunno said similar advanced manufacturing technology partnerships between Toyota and community colleges in Kentucky and West Virginia are successful in helping to fill the demand of skilled workers.
