Competencies

The curriculum competencies listed are for the AAS degree. They include the general education and technical competencies/learning outcomes.

Student Learning Outcome Assessment (Assessment Plan)

The technical programs identify three student learning outcomes each year that will be assessed. The Assessment Plan is maintained in a relational data base, "Assessment, Improvement, Measurement" (AIM). The Assessment Plan includes:

  • Identification of the outcome, usually using the program level competencies/tasks,
  • Determination of the measures that are going to be used to assess the outcome,
  • Determination of an acceptable level of achievement/target level of achievement based on industry or benchmark standards,
  • Identification of the month or semester the assessment(s) will be taking place,
  • Recording the results of the assessment(s), and
  • Strategizing how the results are going to be used to improve students success.
