Academic Advising

Advising Overview

The purpose of academic advising is to help students reach their educational goals. Advisors not only provide students with information about degree requirements but also help direct students to important academic resources critical to student success. At BCTC, students must consult their academic advisor each semester in order to register for classes.

Assigned Advising

Beginning in the Fall 2011 semester, every BCTC student will be assigned an academic advisor. Students can view their advisor assignment and advisor contact information using AdvisorTrac*. A tutorial for AdvisorTrac is available here. Academic advisors are capable of meeting with students in their office or at-a-distance using email or telephones. Direct links:

Priority Registration

Priority registration begins October 1 for Spring classes and March 1 for Summer and Fall classes. When contacting their advisor for the firs time, students may wish to send a completed student contact form to their advisor. Please contact your advisor for directions on how best to set up an appointment.

Late Registration

Late registration begins every semester in the week prior to the start of classes. During late registration, online students may use any of the late registration locations for advising or complete this Web form:

New Students

New students, including transfer and readmitted students, should contact the BCTC Advising Center to schedule an appointment on the BCTC Campuses nearest them for their initial advising session and to complete any required testing:
