GPA Recalculation Option

Requirements

For the 2013 applicant year, students applying to Bluegrass Community and Technical College selective admission programs may elect to have their grade point averages (GPA) recalculated using only the grades and credit hours from their more recent college experience if they meet the following criteria:

• The course work for which I want to use the GPA Recalculation Option is not from BCTC or KY Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). I understand this means my previous college coursework would be from another Kentucky college/university or a college outside of the state. (Examples: UK, EKU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, etc.)
• There has been a break of at least two years between my previous college work (i.e. the work I do not wish to be counted) and my more recent BCTC or KCTCS college work. I understand this means 2 fall and 2 spring semesters.
• I have earned from BCTC or KCTCS at least 12 credit hours 100 level or above since my break in enrollment with at least a 2.0 GPA or higher. I understand this does not include MA 108 or any remedial coursework.

Please note that the GPA Recalculation Option must mirror BCTC’s Senate Rules regarding Academic Bankruptcy Option. This means that students who have earned an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from any college or university are not eligible for the GPA Recalculation Option.

GPA Recalculation Request

To File a GPA Recalculation Request, please complete the form found here: GPA Recalculation Request.

The Office of Admissions will process your request after the program deadline has passed. You can check the outcome of your request by logging into your Selective Admission account. The recalculated GPA would be used in ranking applicants to selective programs, but would not be used to determine a student’s BCTC or cumulative GPA for any other purpose. (This policy is in effect for the 2012-2013 application year only. Policies on GPA recalculation may change in the future.)

Practical Nursing Applicants

Students applying to the Practical Nursing (LPN) Leestown or Danville program do not submit a GPA Recalculation Request. For any questions, please contact the Program Coordinator.
