• Description: This course is designed to give the student additional instruction and experience in the fundamentals of medical transcription. Laboratory: 2 credits ( 90 contact hours).

• Description: This course is designed for students who have completed an entry-level hospital coding course and are ready to move into more advanced hospital coding. Lecture: 3 credits (45 contact hours).

• Description: This course provides a working knowledge of computer management software in a simulated medical office setting. Lecture.

• Description: This course identifies and applies rules and regulations of medical filing systems and procedures. Management of both hard copy and magnetic media are emphasized using alphabetic, numeric, chronologic, and color-coded filing systems. Concepts of file retention and archiving are mastered. Legal and ethical aspects of medical records are discussed. Lecture.
