The membership of Staff Council is comprised of all staff members of Bluegrass & Community Technical College. This means that any staff person may serve as a member of a committee, volunteer, or benefit from Staff Council activities.
Voting membership is comprised of all regular, full-time staff of BCTC. Voting may occur during meetings of the full Staff Council or during Staff Council elections.
The Executive Committee of Staff Council serves as the governing body for Staff Council. Comprised of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and representatives for each of the various campus and staffing organizations of the College, the Executive Committee meets monthly to consider the concerns of the staff of the College. Elections for the positions on Executive Committee happen annually in the spring.
Sub-committees of Staff Council can be chaired and joined by any member of the College's staff. Sub-committees exist, with the exception of the Events Committee, on a temporary basis. Their charges must be renewed annually, given that there is still a recognized need for said charge.
For more information on the structuring of Staff Council, please see our By-laws.

All meetings of Staff Council and the Executive Committee of Staff Council are open to any member of the BCTC staff or faculty who wishes to attend.
As per our by-laws, meetings of the full Staff Council are held at least twice during each fiscal year. Meetings of the Executive Committee occur on the second Tuesday of every month at 2:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
You may access the current meeting schedule here.
Staff Council strives to be receptive to any ideas or issues that staff members feel are important to the well-being of the BCTC Community.
We can investigate, research, make recommendations and report back on policy, decision-making, and College iniatives. We can also suggest the implementation of new college-wide iniatives and work collaboratively with other College entities to put on events or provide professional development. We can represent large-scale concerns of the staff to the College's Administration.
We do not deal directly with personnel issues. If you have an issue that is primarily contained to your office, your division, or your supervisor/colleagues, we will refer your concern to the appropriate person or department.
To bring forward an idea or issue to Staff Council, please submit a proposal form.
The first step is to fill out and submit our Staff Council proposal form.
Once the form is submitted, the issue or idea will be presented at the next Executive Committee meeting. If your proposal is going to be considered at a meeting, please feel free to attend so that we can ask questions or receive additonal input. Please note, proposals will remain anonymous to the body of Executive Committee unless otherwise indicated, and you are not required to show up to an ECSC meeting to have any proposal considered.
The Executive Committee will determine the action, if any, that will be taken with regards to the proposal. If action is taken regarding the proposal, you may be asked to help facilitate part of it, should you so choose. Regardless of action taken, you will be notified of the outcome of your proposal in a timely manner. We thank you for your input and interest!
In recent years, Staff Council has committed to organizing monthly Staff Appreciation events at each of the College's different campuses. Usually, these events consist of lunch and opportunities for staff to relax and connect with each other.
Staff Council also organizes an annual Humanitarian/Service Week during BCTC's Spring Break. This week has made a difference in the lives of many people in the communities we serve, and has also provided the staff with the opportunity to learn new skills, experience new things, and meet new people.
In the spring of 2012, Staff Council also took part in the American Heart Association's National Day of Walking.
