BCTC Cares - Campuses Advocating Responsible Environmental Stewardship

Recycling

BCTC is an environmentally responsible organization and considers environmental stewardship a foundation of its operations.  As such, BCTC's printing system provides faculty and staff with an opportunity to participate in environmental stewardship by providing them with usage reports and encouraging employees to reduce printing volume by utilizing alternatives to printing such as:

  • E-mailing documents,
  • Sharing documents on the server or thePoint,
  • Posting documents to BlackBoard,
  • Providing course packs which can be sold through Barnes & Noble

BCTCs lease agreement with Konica-Minolta provides for overall printing cost reduction by charging by number of pages printed (pay per page/click).

The lease agreement also provides BCTC with a free recycling service for toner cartridges.  Instructions on using this service are detailed, below.

Recycling Toner Cartridges

All devices have an assigned BCTC contact. The BCTC Contacts are responsible for recycling used toner cartridges. To recycle a used toner cartridge, just go to www.tonerrecycle.net and print off a label. Attach the label to the box and give it to UPS. There is no charge for the delivery of used toner cartridges when using these labels.

Please Note: Do not use the label that arrives with the new cartridges!

These labels result in a charge of $8 per box.

Toner Tubes and Toner Waste Tubes are made of #6 plastic.  #6 plastic cannot be recycled.  These items should be discarded.
