How Do I Transfer

Transfer Opportunities

Among all community and technical colleges in the state of Kentucky, BCTC has the highest transfer-out rate among first-time, degree-seeking students! We offer transfer resources and personnel to guide students through the transfer process. Our students also have access to transfer scholarships awarded by four-year Kentucky institutions.

Transfer Center

The Transfer Center assists students with transfer to a four-year institution through communication and collaboration with those institutions, transfer planning, and enhance policies that support the mission and value of transfer. The Transfer Center is a resource for students at all campuses, providing individual advising (in-person and email), information on course equivalencies, scholarships, and application requirements, as well as annual transfer center events.

The Transfer Center assists students in transferring to any school in the US, so students are not limited to transferring to a four-year school in Kentucky. They also host transfer coordinators from area schools, including Asbury University, Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky State University, Morehead State University, and University of Kentucky.

They also coordinate a transfer partnership program with University of Kentucky known as BCTCblue+. If you or your student is interested in attending UK, we encourage you to explore this program to learn how students can benefit from completing their degree at BCTC before transferring.

How Credits Transfer

Because BCTC has agreements with all four-year public institutions in Kentucky, general education courses completed at BCTC prepares students for transfer to a four-year institution. Upon completion of a general associate in arts or associate in science degree, students are considered “general education certified,” which means students can begin major coursework after transferring.
