At this time, only the Cooper Campus LRC has centralized A/V Services for the check-out of audiovisual and computer equipment. Reserve A/V equipment as far in advance as possible, especially video equipment, laptop computers, and LCD projectors. For Cooper Campus reservations, contact Ray Mizell: (859) 246-6389 or Rick Rydz: (859) 246-6391. To reserve equipment online, complete the form at: http://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library/Media.aspx
Books circulate to employees for a period of 90 days. All audiovisual items not on Reserve circulate for 14 days, except for audiobooks in the Cooper Popular Collection, for which the borrowing period is 28 days. Reference materials circulate for 24 hours only to employees. Periodicals may also circulate to employees on a very limited basis. Any book or audiovisual item may be renewed if another patron has not placed a hold on it. If you have questions about library circulation policies, contact Terry Buckner.

Employees have access to databases and electronic books from the Learning Resource Center website: http://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library.aspx. Articles databases can be accessed from the articles page at http://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library/Articles.aspx, which also includes information about accessing databases from off campus through the BCTC proxy server. Links to electronic books databases, as well as to book catalogs, can be found at the books page at http://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library/Books.aspx. You must be an authorized BCTC employee or student to gain access to licensed databases. If you have questions about off-campus access, call Maureen Cropper at (859) 246-6394.
We can borrow materials for faculty, staff, and students from the University of Kentucky libraries and other BCTC library locations, as well as from other libraries throughout the world. Materials may take two weeks or longer to arrive. Materials moved between BCTC campuses should take about a week or less. You may complete an Interlibrary Loan form online at: http://www.bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library/Interlibrary_Loan.aspx.
We will tailor library instruction to your class upon request. If you have a library assignment that your students need help with and you would like to schedule a library instruction session, contact Marcia Freyman (x56396) for Cooper Campus instruction sessions or Steve Stone (x56387) for instruction sessions on all other campuses. You may also complete an online request form at:
Please allow ample time for us to prepare custom handouts. You may want to refer students to our LRC Online Research Guide for help in library research.
We encourage employees to make recommendations for purchases. You can request materials at any time during the year. Contact any of the librarians for assistance in preparing purchase requests. The online book purchase request form is at: http://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library/Resources_for_Ordering_Books.aspx
The online audiovisual purchase request form is at: http://legacy.bluegrass.kctcs.edu/forms/lrc/avorder/
We have a self guided audio tour for the Cooper Campus LRC. If you want to require your students to take the LRC tour, contact the LRC at (859) 246-6380 or drop by the Circulation Desk.
For Cooper Campus Reserves, contact the Circulation Department (859) 246-6380. For Leestown Campus Reserves, contact Judy Craft (859) 246-6712. Allow at least one week for items to be put on Reserve. Please, do not assign Reserve readings before they are actually on Reserve. If you anticipate putting articles or other papers (lecture notes, exam copies) on Reserve frequently, see Terry Buckner or Judy Craft about setting up a notebook to which items may be added throughout the semester. Reference items are not placed on Reserve. Reserve items circulate for 2 hours within the LRC or 24 hours (overnight checkout), as specified by the faculty member. Longer Reserve borrowing periods are possible. Space restrictions allow only up to two copies of any item on Reserve. We arrange Reserve materials by course prefix and number, so make sure your students know the course and number as well as the title of the material they are requesting. If you have required readings on Reserve, you might include this information in your syllabus. We require a valid ID card for library check-outs, including Reserve materials. A BCTC student ID is preferred, but we will accept another type of picture identification. Faculty are responsible for adhering to applicable laws regarding use of copyrighted materials placed on Reserve. Contact Terry Buckner (for Cooper Reserves) or Steve Stone (for Leestown Reserves) for details on the LRC’s policies on copyrighted print and audiovisual materials. The online Reserve forms are available from the LRC forms page: http://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Library/Library_Services_Forms.aspx.
