Library Instruction

BCTC librarians provide instruction in using library resources for research. Sessions can be tailored to specific assignments and classes. If possible, these sessions are scheduled in a computer lab environment for student hands-on experience.

An online Library Research Guide is located on our website. This guide provides assistance for searching various types of resource items, as well as worksheets for the student to test his/her skills. These worksheets can be assigned by instructors as credit quizzes.

If instructors would like their students to have a library tour, an audio taped tour is available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. This tour takes approximately 15 minutes and is accompanied by a question form to be filled out by the student. It is then graded and can be turned in to the instructor.

A number of Research Guides are also available for students to learn the necessary information literacy skills of how to formulate research strategies and use various databases. Contact Marcia Freyman (x56396) or Steve Stone (x56387) if interested.
