Resources for International Students

The BCTC Learning Resource Center (Library) welcomes students of all nationalities. In addition to all of our regular library resources, our resources also include specialized database interfaces, foreign language newspaper resources, and a bibliography that may be useful to our international community.

Ebsco - Language Interface

When using any of our Ebsco databases, international students have the option to select from over 10 different language interfaces. To change the langauage, click on the blue "Preferences" link from search page of an Ebsco database (located below the search boxes). Then, select the langauage you want from the choices in the drop down menu. Finally, click the "Save" button at bottom of the screen. to save your language preference for that session. Also, many HTML full text articles in Ebsco have the option to be fully translated into several different languages. When this feature is available for an article, you will see a drop down box for language selection near the top of the article itself. For articles without this feature, you may use a translator such as AltaVista Babelfish.

NewsBank - Access World News

In the NewsBank database, international students can select from over 700 international newspapers sources, in addition to the over 800 U.S. newspaper sources, that are available in Newsbank's Access World News section. Newsbank's Access World News also has a language interface dropdown box in the upper right hand corner, similar to the one in Ebscohost databases, with a choice betwen English and Spanish interfaces.
