Giving Back in the Bluegrass

Each holiday season BCTC students and employees make the holidays brighter with their generous contributions to deserving charities in Central Kentucky. Here are some of the highlights from this past season:

  • The Santa’s Kids project at BCTC made the lives of 95 children of students from BCTC’s Ready to Work program brighter by providing gifts this holiday season.
  • Seventy-six school age children across Central Kentucky received gifts this year though BCTC’s Circle of Love.
  • Operation Send Christmas sponsored by BCTC's Alpha Phi Kappa chapter collected toiletries, small gifts, snacks, books and music for care packages for a Kentucky National Guard Unit deployed in Afghanistan. Members also hosted a card-making event where students, faculty and staff were invited to make holiday cards that were included in the care packages.
  • Students in GEN 140 Development of Leadership class held a food drive to benefit the Lexington Rescue Mission on BCTC’s Cooper, Leestown and Regency campuses. More than 200 food items were collected during the drive.

We are thankful for our wonderful faculty, staff and students who contributed their time and talents to make the holidays special for so many.
