The student government association at Bluegrass Community and Technical College participated in the Salvation Army’s LemonAiD Days during July. LemonAid Days is a month-long charity event where community members make a difference by operating lemonade stands and donating the proceeds to help homeless children in the bluegrass.
BCTC began participating in LemonAid Days in 2010 and this year had two stands at the Cooper and Leestown campuses where they raised almost $200. “The BCTC student government association participates in the Salvation Army's LemonAid Days because it gives us the opportunity to not only host a fun summertime event, but to raise money for a good cause,” said Student Activities Assistant Regina Shank.
Last year, the Salvation Army raised more than $43,000 during LemonAid Days to provide food, lodging, diapers, clothing, and childcare to support homeless children.
