Associate Degree Nursing Program Application Guidelines

The deadline for application to the Associate Degree Nursing program is February 15th each year for admission in the fall. Late applications will not be processed.

Students applying for admission to the Associate Degree Nursing program are admitted through a selective admissions process. Please consult the Admission's Office selective health admissions page.

Students applying for "Advanced Standing" for the nursing program must submit all required documents to the Office of Admissions two months prior to the start of classes.

Students seeking for "Advanced Standing" are those who:

  • have taken nursing courses at another accredited college
  • have previously taken nursing courses at BCTC.

If more than three years have elapsed since initial enrollment in any registered nursing program, an applicant must repeat all nursing courses and should refer to the section regarding "Initial Admittance." Students applying for readmission to NR 115 must follow the February 15th annual deadline and process for initial admission into the program.

To determine which course is the appropriate "Advanced Standing" course for you, contact the nursing program coordinator of the campus where you seek admission. If you have been in another associate degree nursing program at another college, it is unlikely that your nursing courses above fundamentals will transfer to Bluegrass Community and Technical College. Nursing course work three or more years old will not be considered.

To apply for "Advanced Standing" in the BCTC Associate Degree Nursing program, you need to:

  • Submit a completed application for admission to BCTC if you are not a current student.
  • Consult the admissions office to receive an application packet and instructions for completion.
  • Attend one session of the mandatory pre-admission conference. Dates, times, and locations are listed at http://www.bluegrass.kctcs.edu/Admissions/Selective_Admissions/Nursing_RN.aspx
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from previous clinical nursing faculty.

All "advanced standing" application packets must be received in the Office of Admissions two months prior to the start of classes in order to be considered for advanced standing admission to the nursing program. If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Office of Admissions at 859.246.6210 or via e-mail: Nathan Congleton (nathan.congleton@kctcs.edu)
