Call to Artists

The BCTC Arts in collaboration with the Tuska Museum of Lexington invite you to submit your art work for consideration in the upcoming “Movements” exhibition. The exhibit will remain for public viewing at the museum through May 11th.

This is a juried exhibition. We will be accepting artist’s work for consideration from the college, community, and region. Jurors will include members of the Arts Committee at BCTC. Evaluation of the pieces will be based foremost on artistic merit and the presentation of the art matching the theme for the exhibit. Please submit your best work that represents the theme of “Movements”.

About

John Regis Tuska (1931-1998) was a distinguished Kentucky artist and educator that exhibited nationally and internationally. His work is represented in numerous private, corporate and public collections throughout the world. Today, some of his greatest works are housed at the Tuska Museum. His mastered techniques in ceramics, bronze, cast paper, and drawings reflect what it means to be human. Tuska’s creations capture the energy of movements.

Movement is defined as the act of change in place or position. Works for consideration should suggest the illusion of movement in a painting, sculpture, photograph, or design. Movement can also refer to how people travel, how goods are transported, how ideas are passed through technology, or the evidence of the artist’s hand through the brush or pen stroke as it creates on canvas or paper. Essentially, everything in the universe stretches, vibrates, or collides.   Movement is energy. Your expressions of art should strive to capture the spirit of movement.

Submissions

Submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 13th*. Selected artists will be notified by Monday, April 16th. If selected, all pieces must be delivered to the Tuska Museum on Thursday, April 18th from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. (or by arrangements agreed upon with the director of the exhibit).
