Bluegrass Community and Technical College is proud to announce the new Esthetician Licensure Program offered at the Leestown campus! The Esthetics classes began in August of 2005.
Esthetics in an exciting, newly offered license in Kentucky. In years past, if one wanted to be a skin care specialist, one would have to attend and pass all of the cosmetology courses and earn a cosmetology license. Following the licensure requirements set forth by other states, Kentucky now offers a license for those who want to focus on skin care without having to become a cosmetolgist.
In the past few decades, esthetics has evolved from a minor role in the industry into a variety of specialized services offered in elegant, full service salons, medical spas and wellness centers.
Estheticians proved preventive care for the skin and offer treatments to keep the skin healthy and attractive. They may also manufacture, sell, or apply cosmetics.
An esthetician works in a salon, spa, or doctor's office and supplies skin care, body treatments, body waxing, cosmetic artistry, and under a physician's supervision, laser therapy and microdermabrasion. They are also trained to detect skin problems that may require medical attention.
