The Kentucky Fire Commission works to strengthen, upgrade and improve fire rescue services for individuals and industries throughout the Commonwealth. By providing standardized education and training programs, and distributing funds that equip and strengthen Kentucky's fire departments, the Kentucky Fire Commission is creating a safer and more effective fire service for Kentucky.
The 16 KCTCS colleges offer an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Fire/Rescue Science Technology with a curriculum based on federal and international standards and regulations.
The Kentucky Fire Commission offers incentive pay to full-time firefighters who complete specialized training each year, while also providing a number of grants to improve volunteer fire departments and regional training centers.
