Bluegrass Community and Technical College offered two, week-long Genomic Approaches in BioSciences workshops June 2-6 and June 9-13 in collaboration with the Cold Spring Harbor Dolan DNA Learning Center (DNALC). The workshops were hosted in the science laboratory at BCTC’s Newtown Campus in Lexington, Ky.
BCTC biology faculty members Keith Allen, Stephanie Stoelb, Larry Porter, and Deb Davis led activities in RNAi, bioinformatics, and DNA barcoding.
Workshop participants from across the country explored cutting-edge science tools, hands-on laboratories, bioinformatic investigations, and career development. Participants updated their pedagogy while networking with biotech leaders and colleagues. The National Science Foundation, Division of Undergraduate Education's Advanced Technological Education (NSF-ATE) program funded all instruction, workshop materials, meals/refreshments, and a stipend of $200.
