BuildSmart Initiative to Build the Interdisciplinary Science Center at the Newtown
BuildSmart is an historic and innovative statewide proposal that was supported by the Kentucky Governor and General Assembly in the 2014 legislative session. It allows the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), for the first time ever, to issue agency bonds to construct the top capital projects for each of the sixteen colleges.
The Interdisciplinary Science Center at Newtown Campus is Bluegrass Community & Technical College s top capital priority. The total scope of this project is $24 million and we will be raising $6 million in local support by January 1, 2016 and it will be matched 3:1.
The addition of the Interdisciplinary Science Center will allow the college to expand programs in two key career areas, science and healthcare. We are excited to contemplate the future of well-trained students in these fields. BCTC can use this opportunity to build on an excellent reputation, existing strengths, and community partnerships while preparing for a dynamic future.
Together, we can lead the way in providing a unique benefit to both students and the communities where they work and live. I hope you will join with other individuals, corporations, and foundations in making an investment in the BCTC BuildSmart Initiative to build the Interdisciplinary Science Center.
