About the Program

The Filmmaking Certificate Program offers a unique opportunity to work with industry professionals in a master class setting. We offer a 17 credit hour, full-time program geared for emerging filmmakers at all levels of experience. The program provides a hands-on overview of all the disciplines of filmmaking, from script to screen. You will write, direct, produce and edit your own short film.  In the filmmaking process, you will explore visual, graphical, logistical and musical learning and communicating techniques.

The BCTC Filmmaking Certificate Program works directly with the Kentucky Film Certification program so You are trained and ready to work in the emerging Kentucky Film industry.  

Our Certificate Graudates have worked on:

  • "Mom and Dad" starring Nicolas Cage and Selma Blair. 
  • "Ghost in the Family" a local production in post filmed in Lexington.
  • "Bluegrass Spirits" starring Jake Busey filmed in Central Kentucky.
  • "Beauty Mark" an award winning indepentant film..

Currently, the Kentucky Film Office is assisting with more than 40 feature films that are in various stages of production and a total of 83 active projects.
