Which organizations are you apart of on campus?
I am currently a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in addition to being a Presidential Student Ambassador

What is your favorite thing about being a student at BCTC?
My favorite thing about being at BCTC is knowing that I am getting a quality education, the same as at big name schools, without having to go decades into student loan debt to do so. I will also be work ready with as little as two years, because I do not have to take a plethora of classes not related to my field of study.

What are your plans after graduating from BCTC?
My preferred scenario is to get a job as Surgical Tech at UK Hospital where I can finish my Bachelor's degree and possibly go on to PA School at UK.

What is your dream career?
My end goal is to become a Physician Assistant (PA).

What is your favorite class you've taken at BCTC?
It would have to be ENG 107: Introduction to Imaginative Writing taught by Leif Erickson. Creative writing is a hobby of mine and the professor made it even more enjoyable while expanding my limits.

Why did you come to Bluegrass Community and Technical College?
I chose BCTC because I’ve been connected with the work and staff from the Latinx & Immigrant Services Office (LISO) since I was introduced to the department in high school. Anytime I need assistance with anything related to college the staff at LISO was ready to help me in any way they could. LISO made me feel like I had a second home at BCTC.

Which organizations are you apart of on campus?
I haven't been able to join many organizations on campus, but I am consistently active with all programs and events that LISO host each semester for students.

What is your favorite thing about being a student at BCTC?
I think my favorite thing so far about being a student at BCTC has been the many opportunities I've had to connect and network with various of professionals from all fields. Not only have I made professional connections, but I've had the opportunity to make many great friendships with people that I never imagined getting to meet.

What are your plans after graduating from BCTC?
Transfer to a 4-year institution hopefully out of state but if that is not possible then UK is the next top choice.  I plan to major in Public Relations and Spanish.

What is your dream career?
I want to work in the corporate field as a crisis communication manager. That's the end goal, so I know that I'll have to work in various fields centered around public relations and media management for businesses and/or other organizations before getting there.

What is your favorite class you've taken at BCTC?
Any classes taken with Erin Howard are my favorite because she incorporates different learning styles to her classes and I get to learn about things that I wouldn't be able to learn in typical curriculum classes. I took Latin American Studies (LAS 205) and Intro to Humanities (HUM 120) which were amazing classes that I took in past semesters. In spring 2021 I also enjoyed my Intro to Communications (COM 101) class quite a lot. The professor was amazing, the class layout was great for the course, and overall the content was very interesting.

Program of Study
Associate in Applied Sciences in Architectural Technology

Why did you come to Bluegrass Community and Technical College?
I came to Bluegrass Community and Technical College as a transfer student because I wanted to make my career path more architectural-based all while being a part of a program that could build upon my educational background of studio art and art history. It was my way of dipping my toe in the architectural waters before jumping into the deep end of the architectural pool, so to say. Another reason was due to the small class sizes where I could learn directly from my professors and peers and that they can learn from me and who I am as a student. My other reason it is that BCTC is affordable! As a transfer student, I can take classes without it being a financial burden on me and my family.

Which organizations are you apart of on campus?
Besides being a part of an amazing group of Presidential Student Ambassadors (PSAs), I am also a member of:

What is your favorite thing about being a student at BCTC?
My favorite thing about being a student at BCTC is the close-knit community and support that you receive from peers, co-workers, faculty and staff. Everyone is like family here!

What are your plans after graduating from BCTC?
My plans after graduating from BCTC is to work in the field of architecture. Then, hopefully, transfer to a 3-year Master of Architecture program, since I previously have a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a minor in Art History.

What is your dream career?
Having a background in art—and now, architectural technology—my dream career would be starting out as an architectural designer and collaborating with a team that fuses together my love of art, architecture, and psychology to design healthy, highly efficient, and effectively cost-saving spaces, buildings, and overall environments that deliver a positive experience for people to live, learn, work, and play. A priority for me is to give back to the communities, as well as the Earth. I would definitely continue to build on these skills by earning my architecture license and becoming a licensed architect.

What is your favorite class you've taken at BCTC?
My favorite class I have taken at BCTC is the ACH 195: Computer Aided Drafting I. We get hands-on experience working with the architectural software that is used in today's architectural firms, which is pretty cool!
