BCTC Book Club

white fragility ad

Why is it so hard to talk about racism?  Join Taran McZee, Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at BCTC for a facilitated conversation about this challenging topic. This first BCTC Book Club discussion uses Robin Diangelo‚Äôs bestselling book, White Fragility to help us understand the history, challenges, and opportunities to meaningfully engage in conversations of race in the United States.

Join others from BCTC as we start our first book club for students.  Since this is our inaugural BCTC book club, we will be providing an e-version of the book, White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo to the first 50 students who fill out the registration form. To register to participate in the book club, please fill out the form. Everyone who registers will receive a link to join our book club through your KCTCS email.

Even if you can't attend every session, we'd still love for you to join in on the discussion!  You can find copies of this book for purchase at local bookstores or Amazon.com, or check out your local public library for print or e-book copies.

The series meets for 3 months, the 2nd Friday of each month beginning February 12 through April 9, from 12:30pm-1:30pm, on Microsoft Teams.  You must register at the link above to receive the link to join the Teams meeting.

The breakdown of chapters we will be discussing is below:

  • February 12: Chapters 1-4
  • March 12: Chapters 5-8
  • April 9: Chapters 9-12
