The Dental Hygiene Clinic located on the Cooper campus of the Bluegrass Community and Technical College opened in 1977. The Dental Hygiene Program has produced over 500 graduates who care for the oral health needs of the public. The faculty is extremely proud of the achievements of graduates, including high rates of licensure, ("Board") examination success and post graduation employment and continuing education.
The mission of the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Dental Hygiene Program is to provide an innovative center of learning that serves the Bluegrass community by developing competent dental hygiene practitioners, offering quality dental hygiene care to the public and acting as a resource for the professional dental community. The Dental Hygiene program is committed to utilizing a comprehensive, interdisciplinary team approach to educate future dental hygienists. As members of the health care profession, graduates will not only become critical thinkers but also will demonstrate cultural sensitivity when providing quality, comprehensive, evidence-based care to a diverse population of patients utilizing the highest level of knowledge, skill, and professional judgment. As a member of the Dental Hygiene profession, our graduates are expected to serve humanity competently whether as a clinician, educator, consumer advocate, researcher, or change agent
