Jean Watts, Associate Professor
Jean is the Coordinator and an instructor for the Environmental Science Technology Program here at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. She comes to BCTC after working several years for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Jean received her M.E.M. - Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University in Resource Ecology. She also has a B.S. degree in Environmental Science and a B.A. in Science Education from the University of Kentucky.
She serves on the LFUCG Infrastructure Hearing Board. Jeans serves on the board of the Friends of Wolf Run which conducts stream restoration and monitoring, helps train volunteers and is the science advisor for the Kentucky Division of Water's Water Watch Program
She teaches the following courses in the Environmental Science Technology Program:

Tracy Knowles, Professor
Tracy received a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1992 and an M.S. in Environmental Science from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1998. She worked as an environmental analytical chemist at Oak Ridge National Lab. She has also taught and worked at the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
Tracy also teaches Chemistry and heads the BCTC BalloonSat team. The BalloonSat team launches balloons into the stratosphere to collect atmospheric data.
Tracy teaches the following classes for the Environmental Science Technology Program:
- EST 230 Aquatic Chemistry Laboratory
- EST 240 Sources and Effects of Air Pollution Laboratory
- EST 250 Solid and Hazardous Waste Management
- EST 260 Environmental Analysis Laboratory
Rae Ann Gill, Staff Instructor
Rae Ann received her B.S. in Biology from Murray State University. She began work with West Kentucky Community and Technical College in 1994 as an Instructional Specialist for the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics departments. After eleven years with WKCTC, she joined Bluegrass Community and Technical College in September of 2005.
In addition to supporting the Chemistry and Environmental Science Technology programs as the staff instructor, she also serves on the campus safety committee.
