Program Mission, Goals, Values, and Outcomes

Mission

The Radiography Program prepares students in the Bluegrass Community and Technical College service area to administer ionizing radiation safely for the production of high-quality medical imaging.  Faculty emphasizes education, professionalism, and training in radiography within the classroom, laboratory and clinic environments.  Program faculty supports lifelong learning and workforce development for students through efforts in student advising and continuing education.

Goals

  • The program will graduate radiographers with entry level skills through the integration of didactic, laboratory, and clinical education.
  • The program will promote the concept of lifelong learning and professional development.
  • The program will facilitate the effective use of written and oral communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving in the practice of radiography.

Radiography Goals and Student Outcomes

GOAL #1: Students/Graduates will be clinically competent.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will accurately position patients.
  2. Students will select exposure factors that produce diagnostic quality images.
  3. Students will practice appropriate radiation safety.

GOAL#2: Students/Graduates will demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, healthcare team, and others with sensitivity to age, gender, and cultural diversity.
