Welcome Letter

BCTC Parents and Families Orientation

Dear Parents,

We are excited that your college student has chosen Bluegrass Community and Technical College as the
educational institution of their choice. BCTC offers students the opportunity to be part of a friendly and
safe campus environment, and to actively engage with our experienced faculty and staff. BCTC provides
students with an affordable college education where they can earn credits that will readily transfer to
four-year universities, or technical job skills that will position them to secure employment.

At our campuses, students will find a comprehensive array of student services such as Advising, Financial
Aid, Admissions, and Tutoring. In addition to these quality services, BCTC will offer your college student
a number of opportunities to join various clubs, student organizations, and intramural sports.

We also know how important it is for parents, the college, and the student to work together. As your
student is registering for orientation, please note we will have separate parent orientations during the
summer sessions, except for the last orientation scheduled on August 10th.

The FYE orientation dates are: 6/17/15 pm, 6/19/15 am, 6/26/15 am, 7/15/15 pm, 7/17/15 am, 7/24/15
am, 8/10/15 pm (Newtown campus) we will post two dates at a time.

As they become full the next date will be posted. If you are interested in attending one of those
sessions, please have your student register for one of those dates for you both to attend.

By holding separate orientations, our staff can address the unique priorities and questions that students
and parents typically have. In addition, the First Year Experience Orientation is a step in your student’s
adjustment to college life dealing with topics he/she will encounter in college.

BCTC has multiple Learning Commons with computer access. These are the many free services offered at
BCTC: Tutoring Services (available at all campuses), year round Student Activities events, Disability
Support Services, Student photo ID’s, Student Support Services, Community Service projects, Career and
Personal Counseling.

Again, we are excited that your family member is considering attending BCTC!
