Welcome to the Office of Financial Aid! An education here at BCTC is an especially good value. Tuition costs are very affordable, especially for residents of Kentucky. In addition, we offer a wide range of financial aid programs.

Financial Aid News

Federal Work-Study Program is now accepting applications!

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs to currently enrolled students.  Students that are attending part-time or full-time are eligible to participate in the program.  You can review a full list of available jobs on our website.  To get started you must submit a federal work study request form.  Students that are awarded will receive an email to their KCTCS email account.  

Information for Spring 2018 Financial Aid Recipients

Students that will be attending BCTC in the Spring 2018 semester for the first time during the 2017-2018 academic year must complete the 2017-2018 FAFSA. BCTC’s School Code is 005244. The priority date for students beginning enrollment at BCTC in the Spring 2018 semester is November 15, 2017. Students should monitor their student self-service and KCTCS email account for important information.  

2018-2019 FAFSA is now available! Apply Now - Avoid Delays!

Will you be a student with BCTC in the Fall 2018 semester? You should complete your FAFSA as soon as possible. In case you missed it – the 2018-2019 FAFSA will use your 2016 income information and DRT (IRS Data Retrieval Tool) is back! Using DRT on your FAFSA is quick and easy. By using the DRT tool you may help to resolve potential errors on your FAFSA. BCTC’s School Code is 005244 – add that to your FAFSA so that BCTC will receive and can process your aid for the Fall 2018.

2017-2018 Verification Forms are now online!

Students that were selected for the verification process after submitting their 17-18 FAFSA now have a new way to complete verification. The verification process will be completed online – all forms and submissions will be uploaded into your student portal. If you have an item on your to-do list called 17-18 FINANCIAL AID ISSUE you will need to open and click on the hyperlink in the details. After clicking the hyperlink you will be taken to your student portal to have access to your forms. Need help? Please visit your local financial aid office or call us at 855-246-2477.

Undecided and Pending Majors

To receive Financial Aid you must be in an approved program of study. If you are currently in a program that is "PENDING" i.e. Nursing Pending or "UNDECIDED" you will not be eligible to receive a financial aid disbursement. You can update your program plan using your student self-service account.

Parent Plus Borrowers

Parents must now complete PLUS Counseling before a PLUS Loan disbursement will occur. For more information please visit the website.

Student Loan Requests

If you wish to receive a student loan as part of your financial aid package, please follow these steps to accept. 

  • Login to your student self-service account
  • Click on the Financial Aid tile
  • Click on FA Loan Request
  • Verify your phone number and address.
  • Read and Agree to the important information regarding your student loans.
  • Enter the amount of student loans you need for the academic year. This amount will be split for Fall/Spring so be sure to project what you need for BOTH semesters.
  • Once submitted you will be taken back you your main self-service screen and the loan request form will no longer be available for viewing.

If you have never borrowed a student loan at BCTC and accept a Federal Student Loan, you will also need to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling. Both processes may be completed online at the StudentLoans website. BCTC will receive notification once successfully completed. Loan funds cannot be disbursed until both have been completed.

Thinking About Dropping ALL your classes?

Think Again! Did you know that dropping ALL of your classes or failing ALL your classes could mean that the Financial Aid Office may ask you to repay some or all of your financial aid awards? It's a federal requirement! BCTC has many resources to help you through the semester. Review the R2T4 webpage before you make that decision!
