Adult Education GED

Adult Education and GED

The steps below are for those students interested in GED or ESL classes through the BCTC Adult Education program. All of these classes are free and offered throughout the year at various sites in Boyle, Clark, Fayette, and Scott counties.

Schedule an assessment

Your first step is to schedule an appointment for a free assessment. To schedule an assessment, please contact the best location listed below:

Anderson County: 859-246-6806
Boyle County: 859-238-2171
Clark County: 859-744-1975
Fayette County: 859-246-6611
Scott County: 859-246-4696

Complete the assessment

Eligible students are those 18 years of age or older that are not enrolled in a secondary school (high school). Those 18 years of age must provide official documentation showing withdrawal from school.

During the assessment process, students will be provided a brief orientation to the program and classes will be assigned if needed. An assessment coordinator will explain the next steps based on your initial test results.

If you will be completing ESL courses, there is a $30.00 fee for ESL textbooks.

Complete progress testing

After a specific duration of time in the classes, all students will progress test.

Take the GED test

Once you have completed all of the necessary classes to qualify for testing, you will complete the GED test. There is a $120.00 fee to take the GED test, but this fee does not have to be paid until a student qualifies for the test.
