Celebrating Generosity and Achievement

Celebration of Generosity and Achievement Photo GalleryOn October 4, 2017, we hosted our inaugural Celebration of Generosity and Achievement in the Newtown Campus Megowan Gymnasium. This special event provided an opportunity to bring together more than one hundred and fifty students, faculty, alumni, and community leaders to recognize the many individual and collective accomplishments of the past year.

The program included a brief overview of the past year and the many different things that were accomplished. Our Georgetown-Scott County Advanced Manufacturing Center opened in January 2017 and we are renovating our Leestown campus to create a campus plaza and state-of-the-art facilities for our healthcare programs. In the fall of 2016, our enrollment included students from 19 countries, 33 states, and 108 Kentucky counties. We celebrated two national All-Academic scholars: Kentucky New Century Scholar, Deanna Chesser and bronze-level scholarship winner, Leandro Braga. We established new academic programs including the EMS-Paramedic AAS, Supply Chain Management AAS, and Medical Diagnostic Sonography AAS. We launched the Lextran “Class Pass” program that provides Fayette County BCTC students free transportation on Lextran buses. We are truly a college on the move!

We celebrated generosity. Bluegrass Community and Technical College is fortunate to have fifty scholarships available during the 2017-2018 academic year. They were established to provide financial support for deserving individuals. These students were able to share lunch with the person that established their scholarship and to express their appreciation. Each student gave their donor a BCTC coffee mug as a small token of their appreciation.

We celebrated achievement. Our former students make us proud every day. Their collective achievements contribute to professions, companies and agencies, communities, families, and the college. We are fortunate that they chose to attend BCTC on the way to achieving their educational and career goals. They are among our greatest ambassadors for the value of a degree or credential from BCTC. Twelve individuals were inducted into the newly established Alumni Hall of Distinction.

Bluegrass Community and Technical College is proud of the many partnerships that make our work possible. Each year, individuals, corporations, and foundations provide meaningful financial support along with companies that provide opportunities for our students to participate in internships and work-and-learn programs. This is an exciting time for BCTC and we appreciated the opportunity to celebrate the many individual and collective accomplishments of the past year.
