Kiwanis Club of Georgetown Donates to BCTC

LEXINGTON, KY - Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is pleased to recognize Kiwanis Club of Georgetown, a Georgetown-based club of Kiwanis International, for their $1,000 donation to BCTC's programs at the Georgetown Campus.
Kiwanis Club of Georgetown President Marvin Thompson and Vice President Bill Parker along with other members presented the donation to Dr. Koffi Akakpo, BCTC president.
"Kiwanis are dedicated to improving our community and helping our youth reach their full potential," club president Marvin Thompson said. "We recognize the impact that higher education has on the future of our young people and want to support BCTC's efforts here in Georgetown and Scott County."
At the check presentation, several members of the Kiwanis Club of Georgetown were able to speak with Dr. Akakpo (pictured left to right: Patty Voigt, Lynn Godsey, Bill Parker, Marvin Thompson, Dr. Koffi Akakpo, Roy Prather, Sam Penn, and Kim Marshall.) about the campus' advanced manufacturing programs as well as dual credit and Middle College initiatives.
"We appreciate the Kiwanis Club of Georgetown's continuing support for our programs in Georgetown-Scott County," Dr. Akakpo said. "BCTC is the community's college and support like this helps us prepare students for well-paying careers and future success."
Kiwanis Club of Georgetown is part of Kiwanis International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to serving the children of the world. The major fundraising event sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Georgetown is the Scott County Fair, a family-oriented event with a wide variety of attractions, activities and entertainment.
