LEXINGTON, KY — Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) and Northside Family RV have partnered to offer the first apprenticeships created through the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) apprenticeship sponsor program for employers and industry partners throughout the state of Kentucky.
The Economic Development and Workforce Solutions Divisions of KCTCS now serve as apprenticeship sponsors for Kentucky. As part of this effort, BCTC has officially registered the first two apprentices.
Over the next four years, BCTC Workforce Solutions will support the Recreational Vehicle Service Technician apprenticeship by working with Northside RV to provide their on the job training (OJT) and related technical instruction (RTI) at BCTC.
"Our needs were to find talent and continue their training to gain better retention," said Heather White, SHRM-CP, Northside RV recruiter. "BCTC was able to find two students eager to start a career in the RV business, and they will soon start working with us. We hope the biggest benefits for this program will be employee retention and increased productivity."
Through these apprenticeship partnerships, participating employers gain the full spectrum of Registered Apprenticeship Program benefits while spending less time and fewer financial resources to attract, onboard and retain talent. BCTC Workforce Solutions services include programming, skill gap analysis, developing scope of work (structuring work-based training components that align to industry and company standards), recruitment, mentorship/coaching, administrative services and tracking and evaluation or program success.
Employers interested in developing a pipeline of committed, highly qualified employees and getting more information about how an apprenticeship program could benefit their business should contact Gary Robinson at BCTC Workforce Solutions at email@example.com or 859-246-6714.
