BCTC information sessions on FREE ophthalmic career training program

Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s (BCTC) Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with UK Advanced Eye Care and the Kentucky Career Center-Bluegrass, will be offering two informational orientation sessions at UK Advanced Eye Care in Lexington, Ky, on admittance to a free Ophthalmic Assisting career training program.

Ophthalmic Assistants work with an ophthalmologist or optometrist to provide patient eye care. The Ophthalmic Assisting program will include 40 hours of classroom/lab training and a flexible 160-hour paid live internship.  Job placement upon successful completion of this program is possible.

The orientation sessions will be held on Wednesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 28 from 6-8 p.m. at UK Advanced Eye Care, 110 Conn Terrace (New Shriners Hospital), in the 5th floor conference room.

Interested participants MUST attend an orientation session. Pre-registration for the orientations is REQUIRED due to social distancing guidelines and can be completed online at bluegrass.edu/ukeyecare.

Parking is available at UK Healthcare Parking Garage, 110 Transcript Avenue, next to Shriner’s Hospital. Participants in the orientation are asked to bring a short resume, driver’s license or passport and a Social Security card to the session. Non-U.S. citizens should bring a Permanent Resident card. Veterans should also bring a DD214.

A background check and drug screening will be required of all participants selected for the program.
