First graduates from the Educating Heroes program

Published on Feb 29, 2020

Dr Akakpo and Officers at DOCJTBCTC was proud to attend the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) basic training graduation of 31 law enforcement officers from agencies across the state. These officers will serve as city and county police officers, sheriffs’ deputies, university police and airport police.

This event was special for BCTC because it marked the first graduates of the new BCTC/DOCJT educational initiative, Educating Heroes. Recruits participating in the program earned 45 college credit hours for completing the Basic Training Academy and an additional 15 college credit hours to earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in partnership with BCTC.

Deputy Jacob Gould and Deputy Brandon Purnell were the first recruits to complete the DOCJT/BCTC Education Heroes program. We look forward to seeing many more graduates through this partnership!
