BCTC AND MOREHEAD STATE UNIVERSITY SIGN JOINT ADMISSION AND REVERSE TRANSFER AGREEMENT

Jun 26, 2017

Dr. Steven Ralston, MSU Provost, and Dr. Augusta Julian, BCTC president, signing joint admission and reverse transfer agreementLEXINGTON, Ky. — Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) and Morehead State University (MSU) have signed an agreement to participate in a new joint admission and reverse transfer program.

Dr. Augusta Julian, BCTC president, and Dr. Steven Ralston, MSU provost, signed the agreement June 26 at the BCTC Newtown Campus in Lexington.

The purpose of this agreement, dubbed “Eagle Express,” will be to provide academic advising and admissions counseling for bachelor’s degree seeking students, from the beginning of their college careers at BCTC to the point where they are ready to transition to MSU. Students participating in the program will have the benefit of advising from both schools, unofficial transcript review, and free transcript exchange. In addition, there is no application fee to enter this program.

The Reverse Transfer Agreement will assist students who have transferred to MSU to complete an associate degree at BCTC. Students who have completed at least 45 credits at BCTC without completing an associate degree will qualify.

“Collaboration among higher education is critical to student success,” said Dr. Augusta Julian, president of BCTC. “This agreement will give more BCTC students access to a bachelor’s degree path that will work for them. At BCTC, we appreciate partners like MSU who share our commitment to student success.”

“We are pleased to be partnering with BCTC to help more students succeed in college. Together, we are answering the challenge to remove barriers which make it difficult for many BCTC alumni to finish a degree,” said Dr. Ralston. “We value our partnership with BCTC and look forward to making it simpler for students to obtain their associate degrees as well.”

The two institutions will review the agreement regularly to make sure the course content reflects industry developments, employment trends and accreditation guidelines.
