BCTC Dental Hygiene Student Receives L.R. Bean Dental Radiology Award

Bluegrass Community amp; Technical College (BCTC) Dental Hygiene student, Kacey L. Muntz, has been named the 2011 recipient of the L.R. Bean Dental Radiology Award.

The award is named for Dr. L.R. Bean who taught dental radiology at Lexington Community College (now BCTC) for more than 17 years. In 1991, he created an endowment for a dental hygiene student who showed empathy with patients, a sense of humor, and exceptional abilities in the area of oral radiology. Since Dr. Beans death, his family has continued to sponsor the scholarship.

Dr. Bean was a true treasure and extremely dedicated to providing quality education for all students, said Debbie Kelly, BCTC professor of Dental Hygiene. Kacey is a very talented student and is someone that the scholarship committee felt Dr. Bean would have enjoyed teaching.

I am honored to be selected as the 2011 recipient of the L.R. Bean Dental Radiology Award, said Muntz. The Dental Hygiene program at BCTC has prepared me for my new career as a successful clinician.
Muntz graduated from Harrison County High School in 2008 and currently resides in Paris, KY. After graduating from BCTC this spring, she plans to move back to Harrison County and pursue a career in dental hygiene.
