BCTC Graduates Receive Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarships to Attend the University of Kentucky
LEXINGTON, KY (June 14, 2007) Four Bluegrass Community amp; Technical College students were recently awarded Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM) Undergraduate Scholarships to attend the University of Kentucky.
The CSEM Undergraduate Scholarship Program funded by the National Science Foundation is for low income, academically talented students pursing degrees in computer science, engineering, and mathematics who might not achieve success in their educational and career goals because of financial needs. The CSEM project also targets underrepresented groups and those with non-traditional backgrounds fostering their interest, expertise, and enthusiasm. CSEM students benefit from a variety of support services that include intense advising, a science resource center, a residence hall learning community, industry experiences and opportunities to participate in research projects.
The 2007-2008 CSEM Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients are:
- Ryan Copple, computer science major
- Justin King, computer science major
- Joshua McCartt, computer science and electrical engineering major
- Whitley Mills, math education major
