BCTC Hosts Animal Relief Expo to Help Local Shelters and Rescue Groups

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 23, 2010) - In response to an increasing number of abandoned pets at animal shelters, Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) will host an Animal Relief Expo to help local agencies share their mission and get donations for much needed items.

Several animal shelter and rescue groups from around the region will attend the Animal Relief Expo being held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28 at the BCTC Academic Technical building on Cooper Campus, 470 Cooper Drive in Lexington.

The community has the opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities and donate directly to the animal shelter or rescue group. Each organization has created a wish list of items that are desperately needed.

"By making the needs and problems of our animal friends public, we help spread the word that these creatures need everyones help to avoid abuse, neglect and death," said LaFoun Rawlins-Fellows, a BCTC staff member coordinating the event. "I hope that the Animal Relief Expo will help teach us what we must do to be a better place for animals."
