BCTC Lawrenceburg Campus Announces New Construction Technology Program
LEXINGTON, KY (October 28, 2008) The Construction Technology Program at Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) will be expanding its program to the Lawrenceburg campus with classes beginning January 12, 2008. Space is limited to 18 students.
Students entering the Construction Technology program will learn site layout and foundations, floor and wall framing, interior and exterior finishes, blueprint reading, and estimating. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Construction Technology classes will include: Introduction to Carpentry, Blueprint Reading, Site Layout and Industrial Safety. Google Sketch-Up and Timberline Estimating Program are two of the computer software programs that will be used throughout the program.
I am very proud that we have grown the program to the point of expansion and will be offering construction classes at another location which will give students in the Lawrenceburg and surrounding area an opportunity to attend classes closer to home said Claude Gross, Coordinator of the Construction Technology Program. Our program offers a full AAS degree in construction technology that is transferable into the local universities. The program has strong support and ties with industry both residential and commercial, and is in part one of the reasons the program is expanding. Those interested in entering the program should complete an application to the college and meet with a financial aid officer to determine eligibility for federal financial aid and/or scholarships. The program takes 12 months to complete a certificate, 18 months for a diploma, and two years to complete an associate degree.
