BCTC President Dr. Jim Kerley Named Next President of Gulf Coast Community College

LEXINGTON, KY (February 28, 2007) Bluegrass Community and Technical College, President and CEO Jim Kerley has been tapped to become the next president of Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida. The announcement came yesterday during the colleges board of directors meeting.

Kerley served as president of Lexington Community College (LCC) from 1998 2004. In July 2004, LCC transitioned from the University of Kentucky to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, where Kerley lead the consolidation of LCC and Central Kentucky Technical College. Kerley served as president of both institutions until the final consolidation and name change to Bluegrass Community and Technical College. Kerley was named President and CEO of the consolidated Bluegrass Community and Technical College in 2005.

These past years have been the best years of my professional career, said Kerley. I have truly enjoyed the unique opportunity to work with BCTC's outstanding faculty, staff, students and the people in the Bluegrass Region. I am sorry to be ending my work here, continued Kerley, however, I look forward to moving to Florida and opening a new chapter in my career.

The Gulf Coast Community Colleges Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on March 6, 2007 to negotiate a contact with Dr. Kerley. BCTC will officially announce the effective date of his resignation on March 8.
