BCTC to honor 2,049 candidates at spring graduation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 4, 2010) Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) will hold commencement exercises 5 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Frankfort Convention Center, 405 Mero Street in Frankfort. The ceremony will recognize approximately 2,049 students receiving degrees, diplomas or certificates for the 2009-10 academic school year. BCTC President Dr. Augusta A. Julian will preside over the commencement of graduates from the six BCTC campuses.

University of Kentucky President Emeritus Dr. Charles Turner Wethington, Jr. will be the commencement speaker. Wethington served as UKs president from 1989 to 2001. Before serving as president, Wethington held numerous positions in Community College System. He served as president of Maysville Community College (1967-71), and as assistant vice president (1971-81), vice president (1981-82) and chancellor (1982-89) of the Community College System. Currently, Wethington serves on the BCTC Foundation Board and continues to be a steadfast supporter of the college.
