BCTC to Offer New Polysomnographic Technologist Certificate
LEXINGTON, KY (June 27, 2007) The Kentucky Community amp; Technical College System has approved the Polysomnographic Technologist Certificate to be offered at Bluegrass Community amp; Technical College. The program will begin offering classes this fall.
Polysomnographic technologist operate sophisticated monitoring devices, such as an electroencephalogram (EEG) that measures and records the electrical activity of the brain, muscle and eye movements, respiration, blood oxygen levels, and other physiologic events. Often called sleep technologists, they are typically employed in sleep laboratories, medical centers and freestanding clinics. Employment opportunities may also include public and patient education regarding sleep disorders, product sales, and marketing sleep centers.
