BCTC Winchester-Clark County and Kentucky River Foothills to Offer New Commuter Route for Students

Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) Winchester-Clark County campus will be offering students a new commuter route for the Spring 2015 semester. Starting January 12 May 7, students will be able to take a commuter bus on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to the Winchester-Clark County campus.

In partnership with Kentucky River Foothills Transportation, the commuter bus will pick up students in Estill and Powell counties to attend classes for $60 per month. The bus will arrive at campus by 9:30 a.m. and leave campus at 4:45 p.m. Pickup locations are at the Estill County Board of Education in Irvine, and the Park amp; Ride near the Clay City Highway 82 Exit off the parkway in Powell County.

Bruce Manley, Campus Director of the Winchester-Clark County campus, said, We dont want transportation to be a barrier for anyone to go to college. This commuter route gives residents from Estill and Powell counties affordable and reliable transportation thanks to our partnership with Kentucky River Foothills.

Students wishing to sign up for the commuter route may do so by December 12 by emailing Bruce Manley at bruce.manley@kctcs.edu.

In addition to the new commuter route, BCTC students can also currently ride the Winchester transit bus system for free with their student ID card.
