The mission of Leadership Central Kentucky is "to educate to lead, connect, and know our communities." In this pursuit, class members studied community and regional topics such as transportation, education, economic development, quality of life, public advocacy and agri-tourism. The topics are covered by knowledgeable speakers and panels, tours, interactive exercises and class discussions.

Before coming to BCTC Winchester, Flynn retired from the City of Winchester Fire-EMT, after 20 years of service. He is a life-long resident of Winchester.

In response to what he learned in the leadership class, Flynn is organizing a fall series at the Winchester campus entitled, "Dangers in Plain Sight." This series will include awareness of issues impacting communities, such as drugs, social media hazards and bullying/school violence.

"I learned from Leadership Central Kentucky that these issues are affecting every community, and I am passionate about bringing awareness and education to BCTC and our community," said Flynn.

Leadership Central Kentucky program director Amy Carrington said, "Leadership Central Kentucky is designed to help participants gain a new understanding of how each county's actions impact the others, and it's our hope that these graduates will realize that our region will have a better opportunity to reach its highest potential through collaboration and being informed about key issues."
