Ky. musician to perform benefit concert for BCTC Peace Meal Gardens

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 22, 2010) Kentucky musician Mitch Barrett will be performing a concert benefiting Bluegrass Community and Technical College. The money raised will go to the colleges Peace Meal Gardens, a community garden located on Leestown Campus.

The concert will be held 7 p.m. Friday, March 26 at the Student Center on the BCTC Leestown Campus, 164 Opportunity Way, in Lexington.

The public is welcomed to this family-friendly event. Admission is free. Suggested donation, $5 to $15.

There will be refreshments, garden-themed door prizes and a drawing for a basket of goods worth $165.

A Berea, Ky. native, Mitch Barrett is an accomplished singer and songwriter who is known for bringing his mountain philosophy to the contemporary stage. In his 30-year career, he has drawn upon his Appalachian heritage to illustrate the joys and struggles of everyday life. His songs are grounded in the premise that everyones story is important. Barrett is a two-time winner at MerleFest, a national festival celebrating traditional plus music. He is also the winner of the 2009 Telluride Troubadour, an annual songwriter competition part of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado.
