Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton to visit BCTC Advanced Manufacturing Center in Georgetown January 20
This event was cancelled due to weather concerns. To be rescheduled.
Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton will be visiting the current site of Bluegrass and Community Colleges (BCTC) Advanced Manufacturing Center in Georgetown, Ky. on January 20, from 9:30-11 a.m. She will get to meet students of the Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program and tour its Toyota facility.
Currently, there are 60 students enrolled at the Georgetown AMT program. This work/study program allows AMT students to work three days a week in a manufacturing environment with their industry sponsor and spend two days a week in a classroom environment, combining components of apprenticeship with hands-on paid work experience.
If weather permits, a tour of the construction site of BCTC's new Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) will be offered. The building is scheduled to open in January 2017 on a 20-acre site in Lanes Run Business Park in Georgetown, Ky. When complete, the AMC will serve 1,200 students, with 12 full-time and 20 part-time faculty.
